About 4% of the people are psychopaths. These are the Looters & Underclass. The Looters have co-opted the law. We sit befuddled as having destroyed traditions and traditional morality the Looters have a great mass of weak minded followers.
"A Looter judge ruled that McDonalds must compensate their customers if they spill coffee on themselves without realizing that coffee is hot."
Well. I take your point, but don't think this is the best example to support it.
The coffee was scalding hot - 180-190 F - the customer suffered third degree burns and needed skin grafts. She shouldn't have put it between her thighs - McDonald's was found only 80% responsible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants
"Liebeck was awarded a net $160,000...in compensatory damages to cover medical expenses, and $2.7 million (equivalent to $5,900,000 in 2025) in punitive damages. The trial judge reduced the punitive damages to three times the amount of the compensatory damages, totaling $640,000. The parties settled for a confidential amount before an appeal was decided."
The original punitive damage award was equivalent to one day’s profits just from coffee, for McDonald’s at the corporate level. Profits that had been obtained by stretching the existing coffee beans for more cups by higher temperature extraction…
McDonald’s was also aware, internally, that these temperatures were dangerous and that results like this were predictable. Furthermore, they KNEW people in cars, the elderly, etc… were all likely to have this near boiling liquid splash on to them from the insulated cups that ensured the coffee remained (ultra) hot!
And instead of the punitive damage award remaining high enough to actually dissuade McDonald’s, it was reduced further even while they made the victim a villain in a PR campaign. So instead we are all expected to deal with dangerously hot coffee as a consequence of modernity…
And be heckled if we object to this arrangement. Even decades later.
Yeah, this was the main point I disagreed with lol. It's not common knowledge, but for tanks of commercially brewed coffee it's typically stored and served at much higher temps than you'd ever see out of your drip brewer at home, as a safety precaution
And in an amazing (but sad) example of synchronicity - just this weekend I read about a new case vs Starbucks - they had photos of the woman's arm and it looked dreadful - and it sounds like the same fact pattern: coffee too hot, lid not secure I am now so paranoid about this - and the surprisingly frequent failure to securely snap on the lid - that I won't even get a coffee at the drive-through unless I have a holder to put it in. Not being a drama queen ;-) just don't want to burn myself.
I don't really agree with the premise. The internet was said to have made Obama stronger, then it made Trump stronger, then it made Biden crony liberalism stronger, then it made Trump stronger again. I think socialism is a temporary rise in a faction that has always been a part of the left, gets a rise once in awhile, and has fallen far from the FDR days. It might take advantage of the internet in its modern form, but so does every popular ideology
Claim: you are (probably?) not trapped in the future permanent underclass. This is a stagnation mindset.
Justification: the left or whoever loves criminals, the underclass and sub-mediocrity. Technology is good.
I don’t understand. I Must have missed something.
The ones that fear being a member of the permanent underclass think the following:
1) they think their labor will become worthless due to AI. They will be unable to create a profitable business.
2) the rich will not need the labor of anyone since they have AI.
3) The rich do not need to fear anyone since they will presumably have AI killer robots. So no gibs for the underclass.
4) they do not have the capital ticket to buy themselves a good spot near the techlords.
I don’t think your point attacks any of the typical point here. Not even tangentially. Actually a strong leftist “loves the underclass“ faction might make point 3) not true, even if it slowdowns economic growth.

As the man said, we are prisoners of the bottom quintile.
God, you’re mean.

How do you explain that the internet has made socialism stronger?
Or at least it has had a massive rise coinciding with social media.
The BLM riots were also sparked by George ployd's death being posted in Twitter.
I want you to be right but I think you are wrong

This reads like it's a monologue by Tyler Durden. Fight Club music started playing in my head as I was reading. Fucking love it.
Wtaf are you talking about? It just consolidated the looter into a single entity.
